Cave Spring Trail

We had a cold, rainy, cloudy week.  The forecast for the weekend looked beautiful.  We decided on Thursday that if it was nice (over 40, not raining) this weekend, we were going OUTSIDE!  Jim suggested going to Devil's Well that wasn't too far from town.  It is a spring (Cave Spring) that has a hiking trail loop with beautiful views of the Current River.  The nice thing about hiking in the Ozark "mountains" is that the climbs to ridges don't last through ten miles of switchbacks.  You don't climb straight up all one way and attempt not to fall and tumble the whole way back.  It almost seemed like the lazy way to hike!  We went a little over 4 miles and had a great afternoon of family fun.

Lindy is getting better about participating in family self portraits.

 Riding in the backpack.

Hey look!  I found a rock!

Help!  I am stuck in knee deep leaf litter!

Devil's Well
This opening drops down over 100 ft in a sinkhole.
It then flows almost a mile underground from the lake under the sinkhole down
to Cave Spring into the Current River.
