Stupid Tourist Tricks

While working at Custer State Park to help pay for college, I learned that tourists are not the brightest bunch. I realized this on the day that a gentleman from New Jersey blamed ME for ruining his vacation because Custer's Last Stand and Custer's grave are in Montana, not Custer State Park in South Dakota. This was very true at the Grand Canyon. Tourists like to disregard signs, boundaries and common sense. If you click on the pictures of the signs, they expand and you can read them.

Notice my husband ignoring the sign posted below!

This sign was everywhere, and usually within 6 feet of it was someone peering over the open edge of the canyon!

Literally, this sign warned not to feed the squirrels because on average, 30 people a day get bitten by squirrels causing cuts and bleeding. (yes, 30 A DAY!)

We saw some tourists from the east coast laying on the ground face to face with this rather angry tarantula to get a "size perspective" in their picture.

I love the tourists who dress to fit the area they are visiting. We saw many wonderful "western wear" outfits, but this one was the best! I was tempted to see if he would let me have my picture taken with him!
