Canoeing on Council Bluffs

The area that we have moved to has a lot of water.  There are many fresh water springs, rivers and lakes.  We decided one Sunday afternoon to take out our canoe and explore one of the lakes outside of town.  Jim and Lindy did some fishing but didn't catch anything.  My version of fishing involves a boat, a sunny afternoon but no fishing pole.  Lindy did very well not dumping her rod and reel over the side of the canoe!  We have decided that our canoe is too heavy (17 feet of aluminum is not light nor is it river friendly) and are looking into selling or recycling it and getting a new lighter, easier to manage one.

 Lindy reeling in her line.

 Jim using Lindy's rod.

We paddled over to a swimming beach that was closed for the season.
Lindy needed a break from sitting so we let her run.

Staying dry in her moo boots.

 Starting to splash.

The moo boots are now underwater.

Dumping her boots and taking off her wet jeans.

                                                      Heading back for more splashing!

The view from the front of the canoe.

Getting the net ready in case Daddy caught something!

So much for having a dry child on the way home.
Swimming at the dock in the freezing cold water.

We are getting a lot of use out of the waterproof camera living here.  Thanks Papa and Grandma on the Boat for the PlaySport last Christmas!  The waterproof function has come into use many times since moving here.
